Nazarbayev to pay visit to the Caucasus
Today both Azerbaijan and Armenia are of great interest for Kazakhstan in terms of economic cooperation, and we should expect that economic issues will be drawn an important attention in the agenda of the visits by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the the South Caucasus republics, which is scheduled for autumn,’’ editor-in-chief at the World of Eurasia, Eduard Poletaev expressed confidence in an interview with a Vestnik Kavkaza correpondent.
"Today Kazakhstan is actively cooperating with Azerbaijan and Armenia. It has several good spheres of cooperation with Azerbaijan. First of all, it is the matter of the Caspian cooperation, then the transportation of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the whole Azerbaijani-Kazakh trade turnover, import of Azerbaijani goods to Kazakhstan across the Caspian sea,’’ the expert named.
"Despite the fact that the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Armenia is quite low, Yerevan is our partner on several organizations. In the first place, the military-political alliance between the CSTO and the Eurasian Economic Union. We should recognize that, thanks to these integration associations, contact between Yerevan and Astana are at a decent level, and Kazakhstan does not intend to ignore them,’’ Eduard Poletaev said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev’s visits to the South Caucasus promote further stabilization in the region. "Efforts are aimed at supporting peace initiatives are necessary after the April battles for Karabakh. The recent event in Armenia was an internal matter of the country, but Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit could give the ruling political forces some confidence. In the end, the partnership should always be maintained," the analyst said.
"President of Kazakhstan will pay a visit to Armenia together with a delegation of ministers and businessmen. This step can promote signing of contracts aimed at strengthening economic relations,’’the chief-editor at World of Eurasia concluded.
