New doctrine of Russia’s energy security approved

Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a new doctrine of the country’s energy security, according to a relevant decree released on the official portal of legal information.

The doctrine that was adopted in 2012 had been endorsed and had to be approved by a presidential decree.

The new doctrine defines in detail the challenges and threats in the field of energy security, its goals, principles, key directions and tasks, as well as its organizational bases.

The doctrine sets such goals as reducing the share of hydrocarbons in the energy balance, developing renewable resources and gas market, and raising the level of liquefied natural gas consumption.
