Nurmagomedov protege Tagir Ulanbekov to fight Tyson Nam on June 19
Russia's Tagir Ulanbekov and Hawaii’s Tyson Nam will square off at the UFC Fight Night event, which doesn’t currently have a confirmed location or venue.
A flyweight fight has been added to the UFC lineup on June 19, MMA Junkie reported.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking Wednesday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Nam (20-12-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC) lost a split decision to Matt Schnell in January that snapped a two-fight winning streak. Both of his back-to-back victories in that stretch ended by knockout inside the first two rounds.
A teammate and friend of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Ulanbekov (12-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) debuted triumphantly in October when he defeated Bruno Silva via unanimous decision. The 29-year-old is currently carrying a four-fight winning streak into his sophomore promotional outing.
