Polina Berezina: it's great that Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships taking place in Baku
It is great that such important competitions as the European Championships are being held in Azerbaijan, Spanish gymnast Polina Berezina said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza after the qualification round with hoop and ball routines at the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships in Baku.
"There's no doubt that the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation's organization of tournaments is to a high standard. I was here last year and I really liked the conditions provided for athletes in Baku," she said in the first place.
“Therefore, I am very glad that the most important competitions, like the European Championships and the future World Cup, are held here," Polina Berezina stressed.
In addition to the high level of organization, another distinguishing feature of Baku are fans, the athlete added. "Here the audience supports every gymnast. It is very nice and motivates you to perform better," the Spanish gymnast noted.
Baku is hosting the 35th Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships at the National Gymnastics Arena. Athletes from 35 countries are taking part in the championships. During the four-day championships, senior female gymnasts will perform in the individual program, while junior gymnasts will participate in the group exercise program. In total, the gymnasts will compete for 8 medal sets.
