One study found that pomegranate juice extended the lifespan of male and female flies by 18 and 8 percent, respectively.
The study also found that flies in the pomegranate juice group were physically active over an extended period of time, as assessed by the climbing assay.
It was concluded that not only does pomegranate juice help to boost longevity but also increased physical endurance.
Drinking pomegranate juice has also been shown to provide a buffer against the world's most life-threatening diseases.
The juice has been shown to offer protection against cancer and heart disease, Express reported.
