Pompeo and Qatari Defense Minister discuss Middle East
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held talks with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah yesterday, the U.S. State Department said in a statement.
The sides discussed bilateral and regional issues, including Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.
Pompeo and Al Attiyah discussed "the importance of a united Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in standing against" Iran, according to the statement.
In addition, Pompeo thanked Al Attiyah "for Qatar's continued close partnership and cooperation on a range of issues," without further elaboration.
