'Prosperous Armenia' won't oppose constitutional reform
The 'Prosperous Armenia' party does not intend to join the movement against the proposed government changes to the Constitution of the Republic, a member of its faction in parliament Mikael Melkumyan stated.
"We will state our final decision, but we will not join a movement against the (constitutional reform of) PAP. We should participate in the consultations initiated by the head of state and should respect the institution of President," News-Armenia quoted him as saying.
However, the MP expressed the opinion that constitutional reform solves the problem of political monopoly, and the question of the reproduction of power should be decided by the people. "Today the government cannot carry out its functions, as pressure is put on it by the presidency. There are problems with external and internal stability," Melkumyan thinks.
