Putin and Pashinyan express desire to settle border incident through talks
Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Russia’s active mediation in normalization on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the Kremlin said on Wednesday after the two leaders’ telephone conversation.
"Vladimir Putin emphasized that the Russian side, as a mediator, takes an active part in normalizing the situation and will continue doing so," the statement says.
"Following the previous exchange of views, Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan discussed in detail the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. They both expressed the desire to settle the border incident through talks as soon as possible," the statement reads.
It was also agreed to maintain contact on this and other issues.
Yesterday, Vladimir Putin also had a telephone conversation with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
