Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump adopted a joint statement on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Elbe Day. Its text is published on the Kremlin website.
It says that today marks the 75th anniversary of the historic meeting of the Soviet and American soldiers who shook hands on a bridge over the Elbe River. "This event was a harbinger of a decisive defeat for the Nazi regime," the statement reads.
