Riots in Paris: anti-fascists fight police after election results announced

Radical anti-fascist protesters have clashed with armed police in Paris after hearing the news that Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron appear to have made it through to the run-off in the presidential election in France.

Six people, including three security personnel, were injured during protests, police said, adding that at least 29 people remained in police custody, IANS reported.

Reports say tear gas has been used against the hundreds of protesters, who have also been struck with battens. Several people threw firecrackers, causing damage to nearby vehicles and shop windows.
