Russia allows deferment of loan payments to Belarus
Deferment of loan payments until 2016 was a result of talks between the Russian and Belarusian delegations that took place in preparation for the next meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State. At the same time, it was noted that Belarus should fulfill its current financial liabilities fully.
The Russian government approved a loan of $110 million in March this year. In early 2014 Russia gave a ten-year government loan of $450 million, as well as a ten-year loan of $1.55 billion in September of the same year for repayment and servicing of the state debt and replenishment of the gold and foreign currency reserves of Belarus.
