Russian Foreign Ministry expresses confusion regarding new U.S. sanctions
The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed its "confusion regarding the new wave of anti-Russian sanctions," according to a statement published on the ministry's website.
According to the ministry, the extension of sanctions against Russian citizens reflects the domestic policy crisis currently raging in the U.S.
"We understand that such steps reflect the domestic policy crisis raging in the U.S., during which the Washington establishment uses Russia as an instrument to reach its own opportunistic goals," the message reads. "However, the officials who dance to the tune of blatant Russophobes need to realize that their actions contradict the public statements of the U.S. administration on the desire to normalize bilateral relations; they also raise tensions on the international stage."
The Russian Foreign Ministry assured that this anti-Russian move will not be left without a response. The ministry called on U.S. politicians to "stop their useless zero-sum games of sanctions" and to regain common sense.
