Russian State Duma Speaker holds talks with Larijani
Russia's State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin held a meeting with Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani during the second annual meeting of parliament speakers of the Eurasian states in Seoul.
At the beginning of the meeting, Larijani invited his colleague to visit Tehran. He said that the swearing-in ceremony for Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will take place on August 5, and invited Volodin to take part in it. "We are partners and we should communicate, therefore, such a visit will necessarily take place," the State Duma speaker replied to the invitation. "We should discuss more specifically when it can be done," he added.
Volodin pointed to an understanding with Iran in the fight against terrorism. "We really understand each other, especially in such issues as the fight against terrorism and security issues," TASS cited him as saying. The chairman of the State Duma explained this mutual understanding by the fact that "Russia and Iran do a lot to defeat terrorism."
