Gennady Zyuganov, a member of the Russian State Duma, leader of the Communist Party, has congratulated Baku on hosting the First European Games. He met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, continuing the talks started in January, and congratulated his wife Mehriban, who had presented the Games in Moscow.
Regarding the opening of the Fans' House, Zyuganov reminded about such famous athletes as Irina Rodnina and Vladislav Tretiak.

He said that Azerbaijan had the best coastline in the world, about 16km long. Concerning the opening of the European Games, Zyuganov believes that Azerbaijan used the best achievements of such events in Moscow, Beijing, Athens and London.
The politician said that he will pay tribute to his ancestors in Baku. His father was wounded in Sevastopol and treated in Baku, undergoing 5 operations. His father graduated from a second institute before completing his treatment program.
