Russian sappers start demining operation in Karabakh
Sappers of Russian Armed Forces have started demining operations in the territories where peacekeepers are responsible in the Nagorno-Karabakh, the head of the engineering service of the Russian military contingent, Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Pautov said.
"Starting from today, our sappers have launched a humanitarian demining operation on the ground. In the first stage, they will check the presence of explosive devices on the ground, where stationary posts of the Russian military contingent will be built," Sputnik Armenia cited Pautov as saying.
More than 100 specialists with armored personnel carriers, Uran-6 robot mine clearance systems and service dogs from the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Ministry of Defense have already arrived in the region.
