Shavkat Mirziyoyev to run in Uzbekistan's presidential elections
Uzbekistan's interim president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has been nominated to run in the country's presidential elections, the central election commission said.
Uzbekistan's Liberal-Democratic Party nominated Mirziyoyev at a convention on Friday, the election authority said on its Facebook page.
Another party, Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival), nominated its own leader, Sarvar Otamurodov, the deputy speaker of the legislative chamber of parliament, the election commission said.
The elections will be held on December 4 due the the death of the country's first president Islam Karimov.
