Six 'terrorist' recruiters detained in Saint Petersburg
Six citizens of Central Asian states have been detained in St Petersburg on suspicion of recruiting for ISIS and aiding terrorist activity, Russian investigators said.
"On April 5, 2017, as a result of investigative actions and measures, investigators detained six citizens from Central Asian republics who arrived in Russia for work," Sputnik cited the committee as saying.
The arrests were carried out jointly with officers of regional FSB and Ministry of Internal Affairs directorates, as well as special National Guard subdivisions.
The detainees are suspected of being active since November 2015 in recruiting other Central Asian immigrants for “terrorist activity” and for ISIS as well as another banned movement Nusra Front.
Extremist literature has been found during a search of the detainees’ living quarters, the statement added.
