Stoltenberg: NATO expects Turkey to act with restraint in Syria
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the Turkish operation in Syria increases risk of further destabilising the region and even more human suffering
He said that at the meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the ministers last week in Istanbul he expressed is concern over the situation in Syria.
"I shared with them my serious concerns about the ongoing operation and the risk of further destabilising the region, escalating tensions, and even more human suffering," the NATO head noted at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Plenary Session in London.
Stoltenberg added that he expects Turkey to act with restraint and in coordination with other NATO allies. "I expect Turkey to act with restraint and in coordination with other Allies so that we can preserve the gains we have made against our common enemy – ISIS (the terrorist group banned in Russia)," the NATO head stressed.
