Stoltenberg names reasons for NATO reforms
NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO reform measures are in large measure in response to Russia's actions in Ukraine.
"One of the main reasons by NATO is adapting and increasing its readiness to deploy on its eastern flank is because of the events in Ukraine," he said during a press conference in Brussels.
Stoltenberg added Ukraine would be at the center of attention at the upcoming meeting of NATO defense ministers, Interfax reported.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the gathering, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he expected ministers to agree the basis for a revision of the Allied Command Structure, ensuring it can continue to provide deterrence and defence at home, and project stability abroad.
This will include "a new Command to help protect sea lines of communication between North America and Europe, and another Command to improve the movement of troops and equipment within Europe", he said.
