Tamar Gabunia: The population of Georgia will have herd immunity not in June, but in December, when 60% of the adult population will be vaccinated

According to the Deputy Minister of Health, Tamar Gabunia, the population of Georgia will have herd immunity not in June, but in December, when 60% of the adult population will be vaccinated, InterPressNews reports.

As Gabunia stated at the briefing held at the Ministry of Health, the agency plans to vaccinate 5 to 10 thousand people daily from September.

"June is a very early period for herd immunity. Of course, this cannot happen so quickly. To achieve herd immunity, at least 60% of the adult population must be vaccinated and we have this plan is for December, i.e. by the end of the year.

As for the vaccination pace, the desired vaccination pace for us at the present stage should be at least 3 thousand citizens and then it should be increased to 5 thousand, 10 thousand, when we move to larger-scale vaccination from September”, said Gabunia.
