Terrorists planned to attack State Duma instead of Dubrovka Theater
The original purpose of the terrorists who took hostages in the Moscow Theater Center on Dubrovka in 2002 was the State Duma, Izvestia reports.
However, after studying the situation, the terrorists understood that the State Duma is too well guarded, so they decided to try to capture the Bolshoi Theater during a performance. However, it became clear that there are basements and premises with communications under the building of the Bolshoi Theatre, through which the police could sneak into the building and detain the terrorists," RIA Novosti cited the article as saying.
According to the newspaper, the militants also planned to detonate two Zhiguli cars in the center of Moscow and organize a terrorist attack with the help of a 'shahid belt' at a concert of Philip Kirkorov in the Estrada Theatre.
