Tillerson to visit Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson heads for the Gulf for talks aimed at finding a breakthrough in the crisis over the cutoff of diplomatic and transport links with Qatar by Saudi Arabia and three regional allies.
The State Department said Tillerson will hold talks with leaders in Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia from Monday until Thursday, Reuters reported.
U.S. officials said Monday that Tillerson did not expect to produce a breakthrough, which they warned could be more than a month away. Rather, they said, he wants to explore possibilities for bringing all sides to the negotiating table.
