Tusk: we are ready to cooperate with Armenia and we respect its choice
The European Union respects the fact that Armenia has become a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, EU President Donald Tusk said after talks with Armenian President Serge Sargsyan.
"We are ready to cooperate with Armenia and we respect its choice. Armenia has decided not to use the opportunity of association with the EU – this is a choice that the European Union fully respects. Brussels wants to strengthen the partnership with the country in all possible directions," he said.
Tusk noted that Armenia's accession to the EEU will change the text of the Association Agreement between Armenia and the EU. "Our agreement will be different," he added. At the same time, the chairman of the European Council expressed confidence that both the EU and Armenia are satisfied with the final document.
