US: Daesh militants preparing attacks in Europe
The US State Department said that Daesh militants are planning to commit terrorist acts in Europe.
"Credible information indicates terrorist groups such as Daesh, al-Qaeda and its affiliates continue to plot near-term attacks in Europe. All European countries remain vulnerable to attacks from transnational terrorist organizations," the statement says.
The State Department also noted that extremists have targeted large sporting events, theaters, open markets, aviation services, transportation systems, and public venues. "Authorities believe there is a high likelihood that terror attacks in Europe will continue as European members of Daesh return from Syria and Iraq," Georgia Sputnik cited the statement as saying.
It is reported that attacks could be committed in other regions, particularly in the Middle East.
