US authorities won't apologize to Iran

The US authorities do not deem it necessary to apologize to Iran for the incident with the military seamen who were in its territorial waters, the State Department spokesman Mark Toner stated.

"I know that a senior State Department official spoke on this issue and the United States has not officially made their apology," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

"Secretary of State John Kerry quickly provided his Iranian counterpart with everything we know about the situation. As far as we know, the incident occurred due to a mechanical failure (of one of the boats of the US Navy). The issue was resolved by diplomatic means, which is always a perfect option," he noted.

"I do not think there is a need for any kind of apology," Toner stressed.
