Uzbekistan to celebrate 80th anniversary of Islam Karimov
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution 'On celebration of the 80th anniversary of the birth of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, prominent state and political figure of Islam Karimov'.
Uzbek leader approved the proposal on a wide celebration of the 80th anniversary of the birth of Karimov, who made a great contribution to development of Uzbekistan.
Mirziyoyev instructed to develop a plan of events to celebrate the event.
Within the program, a memorial complex of Islam Karimov will be opened in Samarkand in January 2018. In addition, a monument to Islam Karimov will be opened in Qarshi, UzDaily reported.
A documentary film about the life and activities of Islam Karimov will be created.
Within the framework of the program, the books 'The Chronicle of the activities of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov' and 'Letters to the President', as well as the works of Islam Karimov 'Youth - the decisive force of our today and tomorrow' and 'High spirituality - invincible force' will be published.
An international scientific conference titled 'Islam Karimov - the founder of an independent state of the Republic of Uzbekistan' will be held in Samarkand.
Islam Karimov was born on January 30, 1938, and passed away at the age of 78 on September 2, 2016.
