Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe agree to a new way to solve the issue of the Kuril Islands, media reports
The Kremlin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the issue of the Kuril Islands was discussed in a positive way at the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
"The topic was raised in a very constructive manner. The contacts will be continued at the level of the ministries of foreign affairs,’' he said.
It is worth noting that according to the information of the agency Kyodo, the Japanese prime minister proposed Putin a new approach to the Kuril issue and the parties came to an agreement on it, Gazeta.ru reports.
