World Bank: Azerbaijan continues to improve doing business
Azerbaijan is ranked 65 among 190 economies in the Doing Business 2017 report.
Azerbaijan is also among 35 countries around the world implementing regulatory reforms in 2015/2016 in three or more of the 10 areas measured by the report, making it easier to do business.
The country has progressed on three indicators: Getting Electricity (the 105th place), Trading Across Borders (the 105th place) and Paying Taxes (the 40th place).
Specifically, Azerbaijan introduced an electronic connection map which streamlined the process of obtaining an electricity connection. Now, it takes an entrepreneur 69 days to get connected to the grid, compared to 77 days in 2015.
Azerbaijan also made trading across borders easier by introducing an electronic system for submitting export and import declarations. Lastly, Azerbaijan made paying taxes easier by abolishing the vehicle tax for residents.
