Xi Jinping says he will meet with Putin at BRICS summit in July
Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday he will have a lot of opportunities to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin this year, the next meeting will be held at the BRICS summit in South Africa on July 25-27, TASS reported.
"I will have numerous opportunities to meet with President Putin this year. For example, we will take part in the BRICS summit in South Africa together at the end of this month. We will exchange views on Russian-Chinese ties and outline cooperation plans together to keep our relations moving in the right direction," Xi Jinping said at a meeting with Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Valentina Matviyenko who is paying a visit to China with a delegation of Federation Council members.
According to the Chinese leader, contacts with the Russian president testify to the growing and strategically important cooperation between the two countries.
Xi Jinping also noted addressing Matviyenko that she pays a great deal of attention to developing bilateral ties.
