Zarif assesses U.S. policy in Middle East
Iran's foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on U.S. President Donald Trump to reject his hawkish allies' thirst for war.
The diplomat recalled that for millennia, Iranians have outlasted every aggressor.
"The U.S. has spent $7 trillion & rivers of blood in our region, in its biggest failure since Vietnam," Zarif wrote on Twitter, calling Trump to reject "#B_Team's fake history & its thirst for #ForeverWar."
Zarif has in the past said that a so-called "B-team" includes U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Saudi and Abu Dhabi crown princes Mohammed bin Salman and Mohammed bin Zayed.
