Russian, Azerbaijani presidents greet interregional forum participants
The Russian and Azerbaijani presidents, Dmitry Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev, have greeted participants of the Second Russian-Azerbaijani Interregional Forum in Astrakhan, Trend reports.
Aliyev noted that such forums are becoming a good tradition, demonstrating the strive of both states for further a strengthening and intensification of bilateral contacts. The two states have no major inter-government problems needing immediate decisions.
Azerbaijan supports cooperation with all Russian regions, including the Astrakhan Region. Azerbaijani citizens in the region are active in its economic and cultural life, he said.
Medvedev stated that the forum will talk on issues of bilateral cooperation, projects in trade, energy, transport, information. Special attention will be paid to further development of Russian-Azerbaijani ties in education, science and culture. The forum is expected to strengthen economic and humanitarian partnership.
