Ancient mosaic badly damaged during restoration in Turkey
More than 10 valuable Roman mosaics were badly damaged during restoration work at the Hatay Archaeology Museum in Turkey.
"Valuable pieces from the Roman period have been ruined. They have become caricatures of their former selves. Some are in an especially poor condition and have lost their originality and value," the Hurriyet Daily cited a local craftsman Mehmet Daskapan as saying.
Some stones appear to have been replaced with different colors and shapes, changing the facial expressions of the characters depicted.
Turkey's culture ministry said that an investigation is under way, RIA Novosti reports.
