SOCAR holds 50% of Georgian oil product market

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) holds over 50
percent of the oil product market in Georgia, operating over 70 gas
stations under the SOCAR brand name, Business Georgia reports.

At the moment SOCAR operates 30 regional gas distribution companies in
Georgia. In the framework of an on-going three-year program more than
150 thousand subscribers will be provided with gas.

SOCAR's subsidiaries are the largest taxpayers of the neighbouring state.

In addition to Georgia and Ukraine, SOCAR owns networks of gas
stations in Azerbaijan, and in mid-2011 intends to enter the Romanian
retail market.
