Turkey starts negotiations to build second nuclear power plant
Turkey is negotiating construction of the second nuclear power plant with Japan, Canada, China and South Korea, Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said, Trend reports.
The Akkuyu nuclear power plant is under construction. It will start producing electricity before 2019. Another power plant will be built before 2023.
Akkuyu was built using Russian WWER-1200 reactors. The deal on construction of the power plant was signed in May 2010. The power plant will have four power blocks, each producing 1200 MW (4800 MW in total).
