Yatsenyuk says Ukraine cannot afford to raise salaries or pensions
The difficult situation in the south-east of Ukraine does not allow the authorities to increase pensions and salaries, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk says.
"At this stage, the country has no such resources, as all the resources are aimed at defense, security, army tanks, weapons, to strengthen the security line, the construction of the state border," he was quoted as saying by TASS.
The prime minister stressed that the equipment of the Ukrainian army is the "first priority" for the country, it amounts to 5.2% of GDP.
Yatsenyuk also said that the reform measures in Ukraine will be discussed in the government and the relevant committees, and on March 2 they will put it to a vote in parliament.
