Azerbaijan plans to build its first nuclear reactor
Azerbaijan has submitted the strategic plan and technical specifications of its first nuclear reactor to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the head of the Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies, Vidadi Zeynalov, said.
The strategic plan and technical specifications of the first national research nuclear reactor have been made with the assistance of the French company AREVA. "Those documents have been submitted to the IAEA," abc.az cited Zeynalov as saying.
The Ministry’s National Nuclear Research Center is dealing with the development of nuclear power in the country.
"In order to complete the construction of a gamma ray complex of the National Academy of Sciences it was transferred to the authority of the Center. It has also entered into an agreement with Tetra Technology Systems, and by the end of April will receive equipment from it for the high-temperature materials laboratory established in the Center," Zeynalov said.
