Rescuers take preventative measures against fires in Caucasus
The North Caucasian Federal District has over 109 villages, 52
gardening partnerships and 20 children’s camps with potential fire
risks, Rosbalt reports.
Firefighters have organized patrols, prepared 122 reaction groups and
read 3,700 lectures.
There are 12,400 people and 1,500 units of equipment to fight fires in 2011.
There are currently 148 fires in Russia. 88 fires have started in the
last few days, covering over 3,700 hectares. 85 have been put out.
Over 204.2 hectares are still on fire. Fires have been localized on
over 8,500 hectares.
Major fires were registered in Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Irkutsk,
Amur and Arkhangelsk regions.
Fire areas have reduced by over 1,500 hectares, but the number of
fires increased by 3.
The situation may worsen in Altay, Buryatia, Bashkiria, Kalmykia,
Altay, Zabaykalsky and Krasnoyarsk Territories and the Irkutsk, Tomsk,
Orenburg, Saratov, Astrakhan, Rostov, Volgograd and Voronezh regions.
