President of France visits Armenian Genocide Memorial

President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, accompanied by his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan, visited the Memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide on Thursday, reports.

In the course of his state visit to Armenia he laid a wreath at the monument and familiarized himself with exhibits of the Armenian Genocide Museum.

He left a message in the memory book saying “France is not forgetting”. Sarkozy also planted a fir tree in the Memorial Alley near the memorial complex.

France recognized the Armenian Genocide back in 2001.
