Armenian National Congress preparing lawsuit in ECHR over parliamentary elections
The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) is preparing a lawsuit in the European Court of Human Rights on "violations of free expression" during the May 6 parliamentary elections, News Armenia reports.
ANC deputy Gagik Jangiryan told Radio Azatutyun that the Congress believed it had enough facts to address the court.
Last week the Armenian Constitutional Court (ACC) dimissed a lawsuit brought by the ANC on recognising the results of the proportional-vote elections as invalid, on the grounds that there were not enough facts. At the moment the ACC is reviewing the cases of six opposition candidates who lost in the first-past-the-post system. One such case has already been dismissed.
