Rouhani: escalation of conflicts does not solve the problems
"War and escalation of disputes are not going to help countries solve their problems," the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani stated during a meeting with the North Korean ambassador, condemning US intervention in the affairs of other countries, those of the Middle East in particular.
“Sanctions against North Korea have only hurt the country’s people,” the official IRNA news agency cited him as saying. “We have always condemned sanctions and illegal pressure. We must join hands in standing up against aberrant monopolism,” the president said.
According to Rouhani, negotiations are the only way to settle issues between North and South Korea. He also also pointed to the record of good relations between Tehran and Pyongyang.
Communications between the two countries strengthened after the Islamic revolution in Iran in 1979, Trend reports. Both countries condemn Western intervention in their domestic affairs.
