Heydar Aliyev Center presents documentary Objective – Baku
In Baku the Heydar Aliyev Center has hosted the premiere of the documentary 'Objective – Baku. Hitler's War On Oil', which reveals the role of Azerbaijani oil during World War II.
The documentary, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism, was produced by executive producer Arzu Aliyeva, producer Louis Vaudeville and director Robert Mugnerot.
The film will be broadcast on the National Geographic channel on May 8, 9 and 10 in France, UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Denmark, Turkey, Spain, Slovenia and the Balkans, Africa, Greece, Czech Republic and other countries. Along with an Azerbaijani version, Russian, English, French, German and Italian language versions of the documentary are available.
Azerbaijan's first lady, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, attended the ceremony. In addition, the event was attended by public figures, representatives of culture and art, heads of diplomatic missions.
Speaking at the event, Arzu Aliyeva congratulated war veterans on the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Victory. According to her, the main purpose of the film is to immortalize the heroic history of Azerbaijan. She highlighted Azerbaijan's contribution to the Victory over Nazism. "In the course of the Great Patriotic War, 700 thousand men were drafted in Azerbaijan, 400 thousand of them were killed. Thousands of Azerbaijanis were awarded orders and medals, 123 Azerbaijanis became Heroes of the Soviet Union. Azerbaijan accounted for more than 70% of the total oil production and more than 80% of the total fuel production in the Soviet Union in 1941-1945," Trend cited her as saying.
Louis Vaudeville thanked the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, for her support.
