Araghchi: sanctions must be canceled when final agreement comes into effect
The sanctions against Iran must be removed on the day the final deal on Tehran’s nuclear program comes into effect, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araghchi said.
"Sanctions must be lifted on the day the final deal comes into force," TASS cited him as saying.
"While drawing up the text of the comprehensive document on the Iranian nuclear program, the date of its coming into force will be indicated. On the same day all economic and political sanctions against Iran need to be removed," Araghchi said at the talks with the group of six world powers.
The deputy minister also said that lifting anti-Iranian sanctions was a key issue during the consultations, adding that a general agreement had been reached.
The deputy head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the process of drawing up the text was progressing "slowly but surely", and that he expects that the agreement would be ready in time. Araghchi also pointed out that debates were under way on such issues as the languages and the style of the agreement.
