ECHR confirms violation of human rights by Russia in Georgia

 

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) said that Russia had violated the Human Rights Convention while deporting Georgians in 2006, RIA Novosti reports.Georgia filed a lawsuit against Russia in 2007. The first complaint was introduced on March 26, 2007, over mass deportation of Georgians from Russia in 2006. The Strasburg Court dismissed the complaint on June 30, 2009. The ECHR started hearings of the case on January 11, 2011.Russia claims that the ECHR had not found any facts of deportation of Georgians from its territory or violation of their rights.
