Russian base in Gyumri to receive new commander on March 30a
On Monday, a new commander starts his duties at the 102nd Russian base deployed in the Armenian city of Gyumri, the first deputy head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Oleg Lebedev said.
"From tomorrow, the new commander will assume his duties," he said at a meeting in Gyumri of Russian deputies with the leadership of the Shirak region and the city.
The parliamentarian did not specify exactly who will head the Russian military base, however, according to Interfax data obtained in Gyumri, it will be Major-General Ustinov.
Lebedev heads the Russian part of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, which was established after the murders in Gyumri of seven members of the Avetisyan family by Russian soldier Valery Permiakov on January 12.
