Ded Moroz is leading in the ranking of Russian Olympic symbols

Ded Moroz (the Russian equivalent of Santa Claus) is believed to be the best mascot and symbol for the upcoming Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014, the survey of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) shows, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the survey, the results of which were published on Thursday, the respondents believe that the culture of Russia as the host of the Olympic Games will be best reflected by Ded Moroz (24% in February 2011 against 12% in November last year), a dolphin (16% vs 4%, respectively) and a brown bear (16%).

According to 44% of Russians, Ded Moroz is also a good choice in terms of reflecting the values of the Olympic  movement.

The opinion poll was conducted on February 5-6, 2011. Altogether 1600 people were interviewed in 138 towns and villages in 46 regions and republics of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
