Turkish authorities begin large-scale inspection of beaches in Antalya
The Turkish resort of Antalya, popular among Russian tourists, will have a large-scale inspection of beaches and pools at hotels, according to local television station NTV.
Water samples will be tested in a laboratory to determine the degree of chemical and bacteriological contamination. Also, the audit will take into account the water temperature of the pools, and the cleanliness of nearby showers.
"Upon detection of harmful microbes the owner will be fined, and the pool closed. After the necessary measures to clean up have been taken, we will come again to check. If this time everything is clean, the pool will be reopened," the head of the "Bern Dedeman" laboratory, Haluk Akdolun, said.
Inspections will continue until October 30 once every two weeks.
