North-Western Caucasus: mountains of treasure
The mountain slopes of the Caucasus are one of the few places on our planet where the climate has not changed for hundreds of thousands of years. A unique complex of green landscapes has been preserved here with the help of mild winters and uneven terrain. A quarter of plant species of the North Caucasus are endemic, which means that they are only found in this region of the world. Photos by an expedition of National Geographic magazine.
