Heiko Langner: contrary to Merkel, Russia helps settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

"Russia is not a party of the international Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but does play the role of the most important mediator of peace within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group," political analyst Berlin Heiko Langner told a reporter of Vestnik Kavkaza, commenting on Angela Merkel's statement on the participation of Russia in this conflict.

Germany intensifies Nagorno-Karabakh peace process with Russia

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier concluded his visit to the South Caucasus yesterday with a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian. Steinmeier expressed hope that the next round of presidential talks set for Paris next Monday will bring progress. Nalbandian stated again that Armenia was ready to settle the problem based on the declarations of the OSCE Minsk Group.
