Russian laws to be adopted for functioning of Islamic financing institutes

Russian legislative system will not be an obstacle for Islamic financing institutes of Russia, the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov stated in Dubai, RIA Novosti reports.

“Our bank laws partially don’t correspond to work with Islamic financing, but we have analyzed this issue and it appears the problem can be solved,” Minnikhanov stated at the opening ceremony of Annual Investment Meeting 2011 in Dubai.

According to him, Islamic banks are necessary for Russia.

Islamic financing is a system of dealing with bank affairs according to the religious principles of Islam.

Sberbank Rossii has opened two offices in the Dagestani cities of Derbent and Sergokal, RIA Dagestan reports.The office in Derbent is the third Sberbank office in the city. Sergokal has opened its first office for the whole Sergokalinsky District with a population of over 30,000 people.Sultan Umakhanov, manager of the Dagestani branch of Sberbank Rossii, reminded that 15 new offices of the bank had opened in Makhachkala, Karabudakhkent and Beliji in 2013. A total of 51 offices, including 33 new-format offices, of the bank are operating in Dagestan.
