First Tennis Academy opens in North Caucasus

Marat Safin, the World tennis Champion, and Leader of North Ossetia Taymuraz Mamsurov have opened the first Tennis Academy in  the North Caucasian Federal District, located in Vladikavkaz, RIA Novosti reports.


The complex has 3 roofed and 9 open tennis courts, including two for children, and a skating arena nearby. The complex covers 1.17 hectares.


The North Caucasus Tennis Cup is planned to be held in July 2012. Three rounds of the Russian Tennis Tour and the ITF are planned in a year.


A four-storey building of the academy with three courts with seats for 5,000 spectators are planned, as well as gyms and a mini hotel for students.


The facility will be operating from April to November.
